Year 11

Introduction

Welcome to Year 11. In many ways, Year 11 is the most important year of your child’s education. It is the year when all those important exams will be sat and every lesson and every intervention we make during this year will lead towards them. It is also a year of real pressure for our young people and our aim is to maintain the contacts we have built up with parents and carers to together support and guide them to the best they can achieve.

There will be many opportunities for parents and carers to come into the Academy to meet with tutors, Curriculum Area Leaders and subject teachers throughout the year, so that we can make sure that every student is fully supported in every way possible.

In addition to lessons within the normal timetable, there will be revision classes after school and during holiday times, particularly in the run up to exams. Individual students will be able to choose which sessions they need to ensure success.

There will also be chance for relaxation in the form of the end of year Prom to which all students are invited as long as their attendance and behaviour remain good.

Organisation and Staffing

In Year 11 students are organised into tutor groups in order to look after their needs in terms of personal and social development, as well as academic progress. Your child’s Personal Tutor will be your first point of contact should you have any concerns about how your child is settling at Oak Academy.

The Personal Tutors for Year 11 are:

  • Mrs R Cummings
