Spring Term 1:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • Could you get justice in Victorian Britain?
  • How did the criminal justice system develop in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries?
  • What is the difference between a Bow Street Runner and a Bobby?
  • How did prison change during the 1800s?
  • What did Jack the Ripper look like?

 

Spring Term 2:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • How did Napoleon come to power?
  • What was Britain’s attitude towards Napoleon?
  • How did Nelson win the Battle of Trafalgar?
  • Why was the Battle of Waterloo so important?
  • Was the battle of Waterloo won or lost?

 

Summer Term 1:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • How religious was Victorian England?
  • Why did Darwin’s theory of evolution cause so much controversy?
  • Why did people’s leisure time increase in the 1880s?
  • How did people spend their leisure time?
  • When did Britain’s obsession with sport begin?
  • How did the Industrial Revolution  contribute to Britain’s obsession with sport?
  • What did a Victorian High Street look like?

 

Summer Term 2:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • What was the slave trade?
  • How did people end up on slave ships?
  • What happened at slave auctions?
  • What sort of lives were slaves forced to lead?
  • Why was slavery abolished?
