Spring Term 1:

  • What was the role of women in medieval society?
  • Why did Matilda think she should have been crowned queen in 1135?
  • What were the Wars of the Cross?
  • What were the Crusades?
  • What happened as a result of the Crusades?

 

Spring Term 2:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • Why did Henry II and Thomas Becket fall out?
  • Who murdered Thomas Becket and how?
  • What were the consequences of the murder of Thomas Becket?
  • How did King John upset the barons?
  • What is the Magna Carta and how does it affect the world today?
  • Why did the people of England argue with the King?
  • What happened during the Peasant’s revolt?
  • What were the consequences of the Peasant’s revolt?

 

Summer Term 1:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • What were the symptoms of the Black Death and why did it cause so much fear among the population?
  • How did doctors diagnose and treat people in the Middle Ages?
  • Were England’s kings healthy people?
  • How were criminals caught tried and punished in the Middle Ages?

 

Summer Term 2:

Your child will be studying and focusing on:

  • What was young Henry VIII like?
  • Why did Henry VIII fall out with the Pope, and how did this affect the whole of England?
  • Why did Henry VIII marry so many women?
  • What happened to each of Henry VIII’s wives?
  • How did Edward VI change religion in England?
  • How did Bloody Mary get her nickname?
